Purpose of the post:

In Kerry, the physiotherapy service is integrated across the acute and PCCC. The post holder will have strong links with all PCCC services and UHK services. They will provide expert care, both within the acute setting in UHK and outpatient settings across the county.

The successful candidate will join the Physiotherapy Department, University Hospital Kerry which provides a service across many of the specialities of the hospital including specialist palliative care, older persons, stroke rehabilitation, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery, emergency medicine, cardiology, respiratory, pelvic health, and musculoskeletal.

The successful candidate will be involved in providing on-call cover as part of the general physiotherapy service within UHK via an agreed roster, and will be required to participate in the Christmas holiday period rota.

As the Physiotherapy service in Kerry is integrated across acute and Primary care services the post holder will be required to rotate into a clinical specialist role within the community based Chronic disease hubs.

The post holder will work in conjunction with the other members of the Respiratory Physiotherapy team to provide high quality Respiratory services in UHK. This post will have an inpatient and outpatient remit. The post holder will have a strong working relationship with the Respiratory Physician’s team and the wider Physiotherapy service both within UHK and across community services in Kerry.

Purpose of the post:

The Phlebotomist provides a blood collection service to all wards and the Out Patient Department of University Hospital Kerry.

The Phlebotomist will be required to work individually on the wards or as part of a team in the Out Patients Department.

Phlebotomy is an important part of the Pathology Diagnostic Service, relying on the skill of the phlebotomist to obtain a true and accurate sample of the patients blood, from which test results,critical to patient care are derived.

Post Specific Related Information:

The purpose of this post is to work with the existing Consultants in
the Department of Medicine to provide acute healthcare to the
people of Kerry, parts of North Cork and West Limerick. There are
presently 300 inpatients beds a 24 hour Emergency Department.

and accountability for the discharge of his/her contract is: to the
General Manager and Clinical Director.
