Endocrinology

Endocrinology is the medical specialty that treats disorders of the endocrine system, including the thyroid and adrenal glands, which help control the body’s metabolic activity. Conditions include diabetes, nutritional and metabolic disorders, and bone disorders such as osteoporosis.

Key Services

At UHK general endocrine services are provided to patients, including care for thyroid disease, adrenal disease, reproductive endocrinology, growth disorders, and calcium disorders.

The team is led by a Consultant Physician with a special interest in Endocrinology and supported by Clinical Nurse Specialists in Diabetes, dieticians, podiatrists and links to the whole range of acute services at UHK. General endocrinology and diabetes outpatient services are provided, along with specialist gestational diabetes clinics in conjunction with the Maternity Service. Inpatient consultations are provided upon request.
